Elopement FAQ

Elopement FAQ

What is an elopement ?

Answer : An elopement is a shortened wedding ceremony with 10, or fewer, guests and no set-up.

What is the difference between an elopement and a wedding?

Answer : The biggest difference between an elopement and a wedding is the focus. Elopements are focused on the couple’s experience and enjoyment whereas weddings consider the guests’ experience and enjoyment.

What do you mean by "no set-up"?

Answer : Elopements do not have any of the following: a formal venue, an aisle, music or sound amplification, arch or arbor, strewn petals, candles, chairs (except for the elderly or disabled), etc.
Why I don’t allow any setup (no exceptions):
A set-up always requires a permit and permits restrict us to a usually popular area for a set time that may be outside of our ideal lighting times.
Most wedding permits for beaches, forests, and National Parks do not allow wedding type décor. Plus, permits can range from $100 to $2,000 depending on where we are.

Why won't I do elopements on Fridays and Saturdays?

Answer : I won’t do elopements on Fridays and Saturdays because they are so busy that it makes for a stressful experience for everyone involved, which is the OPPOSITE of what an elopement is meant to be! Elopement days are midweek and on Sundays.

Why is there a maximum of 10 guests for the Let’s Run Away Together?

Answer : The greater the number of guests, the greater the expectations and complications! That’s why there is a hard limit of 10 guests, no exceptions, for Let’s Run Away Together. It keeps your elopement experience fun and simple, just like most elopers want!

Why is there a maximum of 10 guests for The Best Elopement Experience?

Answer : Of the time we schedule together, your loved ones are going to only be with you for maybe 30 minutes of it. For the other 1.5 to 5 hours of our time, your guests will be on their own, often outside in the elements. This is simply not a great experience for your guests. There is a maximum of 10 guests, no exceptions, to ensure I can provide you the amazing elopement I promised.

If we choose Let’s Run Away Together service, can we bring our own photographer?

Answer : Of course! I offer full-service elopement options that include photographers because so many couples prefer the simplicity of all-inclusive. Plus. I LOVE working with tried and true professionals, so when I find someone with good chemistry, I want to keep working with them over and over.
But, if you have found a photographer who you resonate with, hire them.
